Sonny has over 15 combined years of wrestling experience, both as an athlete and as a coach.

He began his roots in the state of New Jersey and trained at “The Edge” where he was exposed to and coached by multiple NCAA Division I Champions, World Medalists and Olympic medalists.

In 2015, Sonny committed to the University of North Carolina where he received top of the line training from the Coaching Staff and World Bronze Medalist, Coleman Scott.

After undergrad, Sonny stayed connected to the wrestling community by being named the Program Director of Beat the Streets Chicago. During his time there, his goal was to grow the sport of wrestling within inner cities through programming and transformational coaching and mentorship.

Sonny has a high attention to detail, movement and fundamentals. His creativity and transition into BJJ has allowed him to taylor over a decade of wrestling experience into actionable and superior positioning for the sport of BJJ.
